Sweet success predicted for British producers in Cologne
Hopes are high among the 60 exhibitors British pavilion exhibitors at ISM, the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair in Cologne on 27-30 January 2008, as UK exports of biscuits and confectionery continued to grow in 2007, driven by the expansion of the global confectionery and biscuit market, according to research from Food from Britain (FFB).
FFB’s Confectionery and Biscuit Report 2008 showed that developed markets continue to offer opportunities in niche areas such as low-fat, sugar-free or organic produce, while emerging markets such as China, Hong Kong and the Gulf States continue to grow strongly.
The 60 British exhibitors on the British pavilion at ISM will be in a strong position to take advantage of this growth, with an offering of top-quality, innovative products to appeal to a wide range of buyers. Situated in Hall 4.2, Stand J41/L41, the British pavilion will be managed by FFB, who will have staff on hand to advise exhibitors and buyers to ensure they get the most from the show.
A catalogue of British exhibitors will be available on the stand to enable buyers to navigate the British pavilion. The catalogue is available in advance at www.ffb-exhibitors.co.uk. Buyers looking to pick up on the global trends towards health will find a lot to interest them on the British pavilion, with companies ranging from Eat Natural’s fruit and nut bars, to Glisten Confectionery’s totally natural sweets, to Artisan Biscuit’s organic biscuits. To reflect the innovation for which Britain is rightly renowned, there will be a New Product Showcase on the British pavilion, where the ‘Best New British Product’ will be announced by an independent judge on Sunday 27th January.
Sandra Sullivan, Head of Exhibitions and Events at Food from Britain, commented: “The new and established exhibitors on this year’s British pavilion reflect the trends that are pushing the international confectionery market forward. Buyers looking for innovation, quality and healthy and natural products won’t regret visiting us at ISM.”
