Food from Britain
Market insights to grow your business
Showcase your products in Singapore’s leading hypermarket
Food from Britain, in cooperation with Carrefour and the British High Commission, is looking for companies to participate in the exciting “Tastes of Great Britain” retail promotion in Singapore this July.
Singapore is one of the wealthiest consumer markets in Asia. Being a small island nation, Singapore is highly dependent on imports for its food supply, including fish and seafood. The economy’s good performance in recent years has led to a strong upturn in demand for premium products. Consumers respond well to promotions of various types, such as price promotions and taste testing. They are also inquisitive, reacting positively to education about new products and their benefits.
UK exports of meat, fish and dairy products to Singapore have all shown an increase from 2006 to 2007. Dairy exports in particular grew by 23% fro
m £1.1 to £1.4 million in 2007. UK exports of preserved products such as jams, chutneys and condiments increased by 20% from 2006 to 2007, with jams and marmalades growing by 92%.
Carrefour is the first hypermarket in Singapore to offer a wide range of European goods to their customers. They are keen to source and increase their range of British products for their stores due to a growing demand for imported foods and drinks.
FFB and Carrefour will enable British food and drink companies to showcase their products, giving them an exclusive opportunity to grow exports in this developing and flourishing market. Companies participating in the promotion may also be able to secure permanent listings for their products with Carrefour in Singapore.
This promotion will be held in two large Carrefour outlets in Singapore over two weeks in July.
Carrefour is keen to showcase ambient grocery products as well as dairy products.
If you are interested in participating in the promotion, please contact Caroline Fredj on CFredj@foodfrombritain.co.uk or +44(0)0207 468 8560.
