New listings
- Linwoods, the flax seed and goji berry mix manufacturers, have secured a trial listing in El Corte Ingles, Spain’s largest department store chain and third largest grocery retailer. This followed sell-out success and huge interest secured at the Biocultura health products show in November. Read their success story.
- Norway will be listing three Quorn products - ingredients, mince pieces and fillets - in February.
- Fredericks Dairies should start supplying stores in the Algarve at the end of February.
- Sun Valley has secured its first order following the presentation of its products to retailers in the Algarve.

- Lady Chef 2008 – the Lady Chef event was very successful and high quality PR coverage is expected. FFB Belgium are hosting a lunch for the former Lady Chefs to ensure they keep using the title and cement the Lady Chef network. This will ensure that the 20th anniversary of the Lady Chef competition can be well-marked.
- Wagamama has advertised its new range in Delhaize in a trendy Flemish magazine, accompanied by a coupon promotion in-stores.
- Walkers Shortbread sponsored the launch of the film ‘Becoming Jane’ in Belgium. Walkers Shortbread sponsored a competition in ‘Le Soir’, a French Belgian newspaper, where entrants could win their products and a trip to London.
- FFB Spain are running tastings of Shere Khan’s products in Carrefour Spain.
- A Meat and Cheese Roadshow is being organised by FFB Spain for 8 April. Companies manufacturing and distributing British cheese and meat will showcase their products to Spanish buyers.

- Carrefour have asked FFB Spain to handle the development of a private label range targeted at British consumers in Spain. The range, Carrefour from Britain, will feature 30-40 products such as cheese, marmalade and ready meals.
- Quorn is carrying out tastings in three Danish shopping centres to introduce its products, which are new to the Danish market, to Danish consumers.
- FFB Germany will be bringing a journalist from leading trade publication Lebensmittel Praxis to interview Susi Richards, Sainsbury’s Innovation Manager, as part of FFB Germany’s ongoing campaign to promote wellfood as a major trend.
- FFB Germany is running a promotion of Geeta’s chutney in Rewe stores to encourage Germans to eat chutney. As chutney is not well known in Germany, FFB (Germany) promotes using chutney also on bread as bread and cold cuts is the traditional dinner in Germany. If at all, German consumers typically eat chutney with meat.
- A Geeta’s point-of-sale promotion in Germany, involving a fridge magnet with attached notepad, was so well-received by the client that they are adopting it in the UK.
- Patrcia Czerniak from FFB Germany presented Noon as a case study at the German Chilled Food Congress on 23-24 January, in contrast to the traditionally adversarial relationship between German suppliers and retail.
- Typhoo tea has been launched in display cases for key hotels in the Algarve.

- FFB Germany will host the MLC and packaging and forwarding company Randall Parker on a visit to wholesalers in Berlin, Hamburg and the Rhineland.

- Nordic consumption of organic food continues to grow strongly.
- Coop Nordic is consolidating its buying across regions and countries. As part of this consolidation, it is now using the name Coop Trading.
