Wednesday 21 May 2008
New Connaught Rooms, London

Leading Indian retailer Reliance Fresh, which was recently reported to be in talks with Marks & Spencer over a Joint Venture in the market, will be presenting to delegates at Food from Britain’s International Networking Event on Wednesday 21 May 2008.

A key player in a fast-moving marketFFB's 2008 International Networking Event will take place on 21 May 2008
Reliance Industries Ltd has 491 retail stores in India under the Reliance Fresh brand, a number forecast to rise to 1,400 stores by the end of the next fiscal year. The retailer’s appearance at Food from Britain’s International Networking Event – which last year saw Tesco’s International Buying Director Matt Simister outline Tesco’s international strategy – will shed light on the retailer’s plans in a market set to become a major opportunity for British food and drink companies.

Global insights on hand
Companies not considering selling to India will be able to discuss their export potential in 34 key international markets for British food and drink at the event, as FFB’s in-country experts will be in London to provide insights into their particular market.

Hear from successful exporters
The event will also provide the opportunity to hear directly from exporters that have taken different approaches to exporting and met success. Farne Salmon will discuss building & preserving business in core markets, while English Food and Drink Exporter of the Year The Feel Good Drinks Co will focus on entering new markets & overcoming challenges.

Last year Tesco presented on their global strategy.

Business cards at the ready
A crucial element of the event, however, is to enable exporters to meet one another and exchange advice on markets and methods. Last year’s delegate Nigel Gaunt from Fiddes Payne International, commented: “Thank you for a very useful event yesterday, some really useful guidance from the speakers, useful meetings with the FFB teams, and the chance to meet colleagues in a great venue!”
