FFB to launch international health food trends research

Food from Britain will launch the results of a major study of the international market of the health, wellbeing and organic food and drink category with a series of presentations and export clinics at the Natural & Organic Products Europe Show at the London Olympia on 13-14 April 2008.

The research was commissioned in light of the growing trends towards healthy eating in Europe and other developed markets. Food from Britain will present findings from detailed research into the health, wellbeing and organic category in France, Germany, Italy and Spain, benchmarked against the UK and other developed markets such as the US, Australia and Japan.

FFB will also offer free export clinics with its in-market experts from France, Germany, Italy and Spain from its stand at the leading show for natural and health-focussed foods. Visitors will also be able to make advance appointments to meet key buyers from the health, wellbeing and organic sector at the show.British pre-eminence in many healthy product sectors leaves UK producers well-positioned in a healthy global market.

The health, wellbeing and organic sector in the UK is highly developed in comparison with other markets, and recently Food from Britain has been working with British suppliers to take advantage of the growing international appetite for such products. One such example is Linwoods, Armagh-based manufacturer of bakery, dairy and health food products, which has just secured its first trial listing in El Corte Inglés, Spain’s largest department store and fifth-largest grocery retailer, for its Milled Organic Flaxseed and Goji Berries blend and its Whole Sun Dried Goji Berry product.

Chris Brockman, Research & Consultancy Manager at FFB, commented: "British food and drink companies are at the forefront of product development in the health, wellbeing and organic categories. Our research shows that we are at the start of a huge trend towards healthy and functional foods in overseas markets, and British companies, through their market leadership in this sector, are ideally placed to take advantage of this.”
