Food from Britain has opened recruitment for the British pavilion at Summer Fancy Food Show in New York on 29 June to 3 July 2008. The show, which focuses on the lucrative premium end of the US market, has attracted from 19,000 to 32,000 attendees from specialty food, wine, gift and department stores, supermarkets, restaurants, mail-order and other related businesses, of which an impressive 87% either authorize or recommend purchasing decisions.
Exhibitors at this year’s show will be able to take advantage of FFB’s ‘First-Time Exhibitor’ service, which provides a small POD stand and pre-show support to enable companies to make the most of their participation in the show, as well as standard exhibition spaces for experienced exhibitors.
Last year’s show secured good returns for a number of exhibitors from the British pavilion. At the show itself, Tyrrell’s Sweet Potato and Red Pepper Potato Chips won the ‘Outstanding New Product 2007’ award, judged from entries from the 1,000 exhibitors at the show. Whole Foods Market took a shine to a number of companies on the British stand, including Only Naturals, the name behind the Dr Stuarts brand, and Lizi’s Granola, both of which secured listings with the retailer.
David Wilson, Managing Director at FFB North America, said that last year’s successes had put the British pavilion on the map. “US buyers are now aware that they can find innovative new products on the British pavilion that sell well in their stores. FFB North America will be available before, during and after the show to help companies to take forward good leads that they generate at the show – and make Summer Fancy Food 2008 even more successful than 2007!”
