May's international network update
FFB's international network is constantly working with British food and drink producers to help them win business in new markets. Here are some of the launches, promotions and new listings with which we have recently been involved.
- FFB Portugal has helped Kingsmill to increase sales by 70% on 2006, by placing 25 branded freezers in stores to increase the product’s visibility to consumers.
- Quorn continues to expand across the globe! FFB Nordic has helped the company launch in Denmark, following its presence in Sweden for the past eight years.
- FFB Nordic has worked for the past two years to help the luxury desert manufacturer Indulgence launch in Norway. The product, a premium-quality range of chilled desserts, is now on sale in 275 bakeries across the country.
- Three distributors are now supplying Gourmet’s Choice Scottish salmon across Portugal. This is a significant achievement in a market is dominated by lower-quality, cheaper Norwegian
product. - Typhoo Tea will be launched in May this year in hotels across the Algarve, targeting the expat community.
- Another product line for Real Crisps is being launched in the Algarve.
- Two distributors have been lined up to supply Seamark’s products in Portugal.
- FFB Spain has helped flaxseed manufacturer Linwoods secure its first order from one of Spain’s leading health food distributors.
- Symington’s (formerly Brand Partnership) has received its first order in Spain from Carrefour, following a close partnership with FFB Spain to develop private label soups.
- More than 40 British companies took part in the Alicante Roadshow in February. Several of these companies, including Honeytop, have now secured listings with national suppliers
- FFB Belgium and the Meat and Livestock Commission are bringing a Belgian TV crew to film a Welsh lamb producer. The crew will be accompanied by a famous TV chef who will prepare dishes using the meat.
- Nine previous winners of FFB Belgium’s Lady Chef contest will head over to England to ‘rediscover’ Aberdeen Angus beef. They will also compete to create the tastiest dish using the meat.
- FFB Belgium is promoting British-based sushi manufacturer Tazaki’s Yutaka sushi kit, available in Delhaize stores nationwide, through a PR campaign to the Belgian trade and consumer press.
- FFB Nordic reports that the growing popularity of Fair Trade products in the Nordic region, particularly Denmark where celebrities have been promoting it, is a good opportunity for British companies.
- FFB France is busy organising its annual French Retail Seminar, which is a perfect introduction to the UK’s second largest export market. The seminar will take place in Paris on 21 - 22 June.

- FFB Spain helped organise consumer tastings of Shere Khan products in a high-quality gourmet outlet in Madrid, to introduce Indian food to increasingly adventurous Spanish consumers.
- FFB North America organised a series of 3 master classes championing British cheeses for H-E-B (a privately held chain of 300 supermarkets in Texas and New Mexico), to increase the presence of British artisanal cheeses in H-E-B stores, sold by knowledgeable and motivated store personnel.
- FFB Germany has arranged a PR trip for German meat trade magazine Fleischmagazine to the UK, to see the process of lamb farming ‘from farm to plate’, at the end of May.
