Food from Britain
Helping build your business at home and overseas
Supporting regional food producers
With quality and provenance high on the consumer agenda, the UK's exceptional range of regional produce is at last getting the recognition it deserves. FFB helps producers take advantage of this growing interest.
Demand for regional produce has never been greater, with 74% of consumers telling FFB they want to buy regional food and drink. So the opportunities for growth are certainly there for producers, and we offer a range of services to help you exploit them.
Commissioned by government to create “a flourishing regional food and drink sector”, in the past four years FFB has helped producers secure an estimated £30m in additional sales.
Here are some of the ways we can help grow your regional food and drink business:
Identifying opportunities
- National promotions with retailers and the foodservice sector.
- Assistance with applying to the EU Protected Food Names Scheme, to protect the authenticity of your traditional products.
- ‘Meet the buyer’ events.
- Register to be included in our online producer directory - a one-stop shop for buyers, listing products from over 4,000 producers.
Winning business
- Support in business improvement, through seminars, our website, newsletters and benchmarking services.
- Signposting to government-subsidised training, tailored to business needs.
- Advice on how to develop distribution and logistics systems.
- Guidance on how best to present to potential buyers.
Growing the market
We offer marketing and PR opportunities to regional food producers, to generate buyer and consumer interest in your products.
Activity in 2006 included:
- In partnership with Visit Britain, we have ensured that quality food is now actively promoted as part of Britain’s tourism offer.
- Promoting British regional produce at international exhibitions such as Salone del Gusto in Turin, attended by 150,000 international consumers, buyers and producers.
- Sponsorship of events to promote the quality and diversity of regional food and drink, such as the British Cheese Festival and English Wine Week.
